Thinking Times!

Be So Confident in God’s Plan that…?

Are we so confident in God’s Plan that we don’t ever waiver or get upset when things don’t go our way or when things seem to be going wrong for us?

The huge question  and the big elephant in the room is what we always must take the time to ask  ourselves – Is God testing us”?.  “Is God refining us and building our faith to do greater things?”. Or do we just fall for the easiest lie and accept that we have lack of faith or as we often say, “It is what it is”.

All of us get excited about new visions, new directions, new dreams and especially when we see God opening new doors for all of us in the real world. Until… the first thing that seems to go wrong. Then – what do we do?  Do we question God?. Do we question ourselves and our ability to hear from God?.  Or do we just fall so quickly and so easily just  throw the  blame on others for hindering God’s plan for any of us in this world.  Which is the easiest excuse to use when we blame our failures on others. .

What are our own personal excuses?? Only we can answer that question for ourselves. We are the ones that only know ourselves the best. So, let’s get real and not religious. Let’s be honest because it is just between us and God. Let’s not throw around canned excuses and phrases that we here everyday by disgruntled Christians.

We have choices.

We cannot escape from reality.  Reality is right in front of us right in our face every day.  We can either learn the exact same lessons that every successful leader in the Bible learnt or we can give up at the first or second roadblock and just fall back into silent mediocrity.

It is so easy for any of us to say – “If this really was God, then difficulties like this would definitely not be happening – this must not be God – I am not made for this”

Abraham lied about his wife when it seemed like everything was against him in fulfilling the promise of a son for the nation of Israel. God called Moses to lead the Children of Israel across the Red Sea to the Promise Land, but at times no one wanted to go and at times they even wanted to go back to their old slavery in Egypt.

They loved the vision, the dreams and the optimism until the first impossible obstacle faced them.  They complained as soon as the first impossible obstacle stood between the vision and the dream.

We see these very same obstacles face to face in all the other great men in the Bible such as Noah, Daniel, Joshua and yes even Jesus along with Peter and Paul in the New Testament church and every modern day man or woman who have tried to do something for God.

So think it not strange when impossible obstacles seem to get in our way. We are in good company of every great man or woman of God.

 We have 2 choices.

  1. We can face reality and learn from the previous great men and women of the Bible, who learned to face reality and those who were WILLING to LEARN how faith works, within the world and in real life situations.

God wants to teach us that no man or the devil has the power to overcome God’s plans in our lives.   What is impossible with Man is possible with God. Mt.29:26

Can we expect obstacles?

Of course we can.  As one man said “If you are not facing some type of obstacle or resistance – then you are probably not be doing much to upset the kingdom of Satan in this world or in the midst of your friends/family lives or your own personal life. If we have no obstacles?  It could mean that Satan may be happy and content with our Christian mediocrity.

  • Or we can attempt to do anything and everything possible to try and avoid obstacles and allow ourselves to just slowly settle into the dissatisfaction of mediocrity of no resistance.

This is definitely the most dangerous place to live as a Christian. Why? Because this does not happen overnight. That is a long slow steady downward slide not even realizing what is happening or where we are headed.  It happens so slowly that we don’t even realize that we are sliding in mediocrity until we get there.  Bit by bit we wake up and realize that we have lost the passion, the vigor, the power and the influence that we once had as a radical Christian.  We may even still be religious and still go to church and do all of the things that Christians do, but we have an excuse for every time that God doesn’t do something in the way that we think he should.

We have excuses by the dozens. But they only lead to mediocrity.

The questions that we can ask ourselves today during our “Thinking Times” sessions is:

  1. What obstacles do I have in my life right now that I have allowed to derail my passion, fire and love for Jesus Christ?
  2. Who or where have I put the blame for my failures, when it really was only a steppingstone of letting God teach me of how Great He Is?
  3. How did I see an obstacle in only a negative way instead of seeing it as an opportunity to trust God and let God build my faith
  4. What am I going to do to recapture my faith, vigor and vitality towards God?
  5. Can I write in my journal of what I plan to do and then measure it with results?
  6. Can I find someone to share my goals with and look to them to be my cheerleader, even when I may fail?

Excited together to see the results of returning to exciting thrilling passionate Christianity to show the world and my family what Jesus is all about!
